Introduction

You will get out of this training with case studies covering the computation of impairments of the following types of assets:

  • Bonds
  • Bank deposits
  • Lombard loans 
  • SME/retail exposures

Objectives

At the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how to compute impairments for assets types which are commonly observed in Luxembourg 
  • Apply those principles

Content

  • Stage transfer process 
  • Estimation of PD, LGD and EAD in order to compute expected credit loss 

Our lead expert

This training is coordinated by Jean-Philipe Maes, Partner at PwC Luxembourg. 

​Jean-Philippe has over 9 years’ experience in Basel II / III areas. He has helped many banks, investment firms and management companies implement Basel II and III. He created the review of prudential reporting and related processes for his clients. What is more, he supported PwC’s external audit teams, which allowed him to review the ratios and reportings of more than 50 banks.
He also contributed to the design and review of ICAAP reports (Pillar 2 of Basel III) for more than 40 financial institutions in Luxembourg.
 

Target audience

Professionals in charge of computing impairments in the context of IFRS 9 or in charge of reviewing those computations.
 
Prior knowledge of IFRS 9 is required. It is recomended to follow the course Financial Instruments under IFRS (IFRS 9 for Financial Services)  before attending this workshop.
